A refashion

So I've been all over these hair flowers and a friend from church who's noticed asked if I wanted a necklace of hers that had broken to use for flowers or whatever. She showed it to me ...
and I explained to her that I could easily fix the clip or replace the ribbon if she'd rather have the necklace back. She said really she'd just like a hair flower made out of the flower on the necklace but with a little more added to it :) So I got to work looking around....
and I found an old scarf from Lerner New York from when I was in high school! Way out of style now, but lovely print ;)
So I cut out some circles and used a lighter to seal the edges and cause the curling. (I think I ended up doing about 7.)
Next you fold the circle in half...
Then fold again, not quite in half but about 2/3 so it gives it some pretty body. I didn't show this step but I just began hand sewing each one on until it was as full as I wanted it and I got the finished result :)
Then you just add a piece of stiff felt on the bottom and add your alligator clip or pin, which ever you desire. Easy peasy :) I also went ahead and fixed the necklace and made my own flower to attach to it.....

and it's a scrappy flower made from the scraps after I cut the circles out.

Yay! I did it!

I finished my very first ever "order" for a hair flower :) Plus I worked on creatively posing them.....that part still needs work ;) Any tips or suggestions. My camera is just a basic point and click so nothing all fancy.

And a couple others i've made to sell.....

fall tee

After seeing some cute candy corn tees around I decided I wanted to make one :) So I took a white eyelet shirt I had that had become to big and cut it up to be my white. I also took a yellow shirt of my boys that didn't fit right and was rather worn and cut it for the yellow. I then sewed it together like strips.

Now it was time to cut out my candy corn using my template.
and sew it on. Since the shirt was for my daughter and I wanted it a bit more frilly I added a ruffle along the bottom, also cut from the eyelet shirt :)
With the remaining section of fabric I cut out a few strips to make some matching rosettes!
Rolled them up and pinned them to sew.
And here's the finished product!

Candy Corn bunting

So as you can tell I've lately found some new blogs that have gotten me super inspired to craft! After seeing this, and this I decided to give it a whirl! So my first version (smaller ones)

only I decided to do the back in a plain yellow cause it's what I had for "support" but then I realized I could hang it reversed for easter or spring! Bonus!

Here's how I hung my second set (these are larger)

And a close up :) I was pretty excited with how they turned out! For someone who had done virtually no sewing a few weeks ago I'm pretty pumped about all this use on my machine and how much I'm learning on a rather cheap budget :)

I did it!!

For the first time EVER I used the zigzag stitch on my machine and did a project! I was soooo pleased with how it turned out :)

This was the onesie I dyed using this tutorial by Honey Bear Lane :) Funny part....it was going to be a red striped onesie but apparently I forgot the last step in the directions (ironing it to set the color :) so I got a dark pink and light pink when I washed it! Thankfully it was for a little girl gift so it worked just fine, but when I go to do the little boy one I WILL remember that step ;)

And I got this little denim dress on clearance at Walmart (for $1) and thought it was perfect, you could put long sleeves under it with pantyhose for fall and short sleeves for warmer days. I wanted to add a tad bit of color so I stitched another row of embroidery to add a pink heart to match the onesie.

I then made a matching hair clip for the initial onesie and voila, a "handmade" lovely gift for baby!

some more accessories

I've sooo been on a kick with all these neat "bows" or flowers pins. Those and some simple projects......here is a set of one of the latest creations :)

Sorry, this pic is a bit blurry :( But this is another one of my scrappy flowers with a pretty in the middle :)

The one on the left is made as a pin....I think they turned out pretty good! This crafting is some GREAT me time, I think it's just what I've been needing :) I've also made a shirt from another tutorial I found online, I'll have to post that soon!
