Off to camp

And camp begins :)

4th of July

It was the first year in 10yrs that we were all able to watch the fireworks together, calmly :) Every other year we had at least one child or more that were frightened by the loud noise from the fireworks that either we were doing everything we could to shield them from the sounds, or David was off running back with that child to sit in the van and listen to music :) (Isn't he a great husband by the way for making such a sacrafice!) So here's everyone (minus myself who's taking the picture) watching the fireworks.
Unfortunately shortly after this video the firework show was cut short as there was an explosion that lit half of the remaining fireworks off........thankfully no one was hurt but the discontinued the rest of the show :(

A late movie..

So we decided to do another drive-in movie. We got a sitter for Micah so we could stay for BOTH movies.......won't be doing that again anytime soon! Way to late for all of us....in fact I dozed off and woke myself up mid snore! Eeek!

Ethan would be the monkey boy :)

Peanut butter fun :)

So, trying to be a fun mom and break the normal hum drum of summer boredom :) we made some peanut butter playdough for the kids to play and eat.

Brianna's fish.

Caleb tasting it..

Ethan covered all the clear shapes of the placemat :)
And Brianna's creation...it's a scene of clouds, a butterfly and flowers :)
And in case you're interested here's the recipe we used. It was a little to sweet for my liking so you can use it or google another ;)

JUST FOR KIDS: PEANUT BUTTER PLAYDOUGH
1 c. peanut butter
2/3-1 c. nonfat dry milk
2 tbsp. honey
Mix ingredients. Add enough powdered milk to make playdough dry enough to handle. Shape into balls. Add raisins to make a face. Or stir in chow mein noodles and make a bird's nest. Or stir in Cheerios or chocolate chips for fun. Eat and enjoy!

My trip to CA

So here's a brief over view :) I got to go to CA with my sister to surprise my dad for his retirement party! It was such nice weather and soooo nice to see all the family :)

Got love the classic shot of a car with the surfboard on top and the street lined with palm trees :)
Amy and I coming in to surprise dad :) She has better pics on her camera but I haven't gotten copies yet..

All of us in Dad's office.
A plug in for electric cars :) LOL
Some neat looking flowers/bushes.

The house I grew up in, in Port Hueneme.......looks almost exactly the same, color and all.
Dad, Amy, and I at Solvang.

Caleb turns 5!!

We were blessed with a soft pool from my sister so what better type of party in our summer heat than a pool party! So we were determined to get the pool set up :) The first attempt left us with a lopsided oval, LOL, that eventually collapsed! So we laid out some sand to help even the ground and reset it up.......ahhh, sweet success! To bad I forgot to get the camera out while the kids were IN the pool, but here are the pics from cake and presents ;)
